Ingredients:
- 1 ounce package of taco seasoning mix
- 16 oz can of refried beans
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 16 oz sour cream
- 16 oz jar of salsa
- 1 large tomato, chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 1 bunch of chopped green onions
- 1 small head of iceberg lettuce, shredded
- 6 oz can of sliced black olives, drained
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
Directions:
- In a medium bowl, blend the taco seasoning mix and the refried beans. Spread the mixture onto a large serving platter.
- Mix the sour cream and cream cheese in a medium bowl and spread over the beans.
- Top the layers with salsa. Place a layer of tomato, green bell pepper, green onions, and lettuce over the salsa and top with cheddar cheese. Garnish with black olives.

Hunger Action Awareness Month
Plainfield is celebrating Hunger Action Month by hosting a food drive benefiting the Northern Illinois Food Bank and local food pantries. Both the Village of Plainfield and the Plainfield Library will be accepting non-perishable food items from September 2nd through September 26th. Food donations can be dropped off in the lobby of Village Hall, 24401 W Lockport Street, and the second floor of the library, 15025 S. Illinois Street. The Northern Illinois Food Bank is looking for donations of the following:
- cereal (whole grain preferred)
- canned chicken and tuna
- peanut butter
- pasta (whole grain preferred)
- rice
- dried beans
- canned fruits (in own juice preferred)
- canned vegetables
- reduced sodium soup
- pasta sauce
Both residents and businesses are also encouraged to "Go Orange" for the month of September to show their support for hunger awareness, such as by tying an orange bow or ribbon around a tree or light post in front of homes and businesses, starting their own food drive, wearing an orange tie or shirt to work on September 4th which is National Go Orange Day, downloading a Hunger Action Month poster from www.SolveHungerToday.org and posting it in your business or home, or by volunteering at the Northern Illinois Food Bank's West Suburban Center in Geneva.
